Galatians 1:10"For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Revelation 4:11"You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created."
Every believer must understand this: we are not on this walk to receive applause from men. We are called to seek the approval of an Audience of One.
Many of us have become addicted to applause, when Christ is actually calling us away from it. We think, “If there’s no applause at the end of this, then why even bother?” Some of us disqualify our gifts and talents because someone else is already excelling in that area, so we say, “Why even attempt it?”
Others think, “If what I do isn’t recognized, it must not matter.” But what if we had a different mindset? What if we said, “I’m doing this for Christ, so I’m going to give it my all, no matter who is watching.”
Colossians 3:23–24"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
This verse says to do it with all your heart. That speaks not just to effort, but to mindset, a heart fully directed toward pleasing Him. We’re not just told to do certain things; we’re called to do them with intentionality and passion.
Whatever Christ places in your hands, He expects you to see it as an assignment from Him, not a task for people.
He didn’t ask you to post on social media for likes. He asked you to do it to bring Him glory.
God doesn’t bless you with creativity, leadership, influence, or opportunity just to make you popular. He gives so that He can receive glory through you.
You’re not just a son or daughter of God, a husband, wife, parent, or friend. You have been given these titles to reflect Him.
So whether it’s:
One of the titles mentioned above,
A post on social media that reaches thousands or just one soul,
Or a hidden talent that few see, but God knows about-
Do it all for Him.
1 Corinthians 10:31"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
The applause of people fades, but His approval lasts forever.Ask yourself: Whose smile are you after—man’s or Christ’s?
The approval of people may bring temporary perks:
Applause
Bonuses
Recognition
Likes and views
Awards
But all of it fades. What lasts is what’s done for Christ.
That "Employee of the Month" award? It was nice in the moment. That viral post? It came and went.
But pleasing Christ? That’s eternal. That’s stored in heaven. That’s what never expires.
So forget the analytics. Forget how many people are watching. Do it heartily unto Him. Be a compass that points to Him. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His thoughts toward you are unwavering. He’s not double-minded like people, who love you today and move on tomorrow. Seek His approval and crave His applause.
(There is something about that statement that drives me. It makes me want to do better. It’s like His smile is fueling me.)
So if you work out, do it to take care of what He gave you.
If you are a good cook, do it to feed others because He said when you feed the hungry you are feeding Him.
If you are good at crafts, do them to showcase what He placed on the inside of you.
If you’re a parent, husband, or wife, let your characteristics please Christ when you are in those roles.
It’s ALL for Him. You are the extension cord that is plugged into the circuit that will then produce a bright light for His glory. And you want to hear:
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
A servant who was faithful even when the analytics were low.
A servant who was faithful when someone else received more recognition than you did.
A servant who was faithful even when the little you had seemed like nothing.
A servant who gave their all even when no one seemed to be watching.
Are you being faithful? Are you driven? If so, who is your motivation?
Let it be Christ.
—The Servant Hearted
