Whatever it takes (poetic writing)

I’m in a desert.

My mouth longs for the taste of a savoring fruit that will refresh me or that taste of water that will quench my thirst.

My peers stay close with each other in fear of getting lost…left with the rationings they have.

But I know there’s more so I step away.

I’m running aimlessly in search of that which will restore me.

My feet burn from the hot sand, so I tear my clothes and wrap them around my feet.

My pours fill  with sweat but in my mind is that stream that will keep me going.

I know that tree with the fresh fruit is somewhere around here.

I know that stream flows near me.

I will search for it no matter what it takes.

The sky may darken but another day will come and when I arise I will continuously search.

I can live off the small amounts of food I have in my bag.

They will keep me going but I still hunger and thirst.

I want The Stream.

I want the fruit that hangs from that tree.

As the mediocre food I have in my bag begins to dwindle I become more desperate for that which will satisfy me.

The sun begins to set but I know the stream is close.

I hear it.

The trickling of the water that feeds my ears gives me strength.

I run faster, I run stronger,

it’s here oh I hear it and at last I can see it.

That Stream that flows for me.

Next to it is the tree with the fruit that I also longed for.

This stream has given me more than enough.

I kneel down and cuff my hands to bring the water to my mouth.

As I taste it i hear,

“this stream flows continuously and as you drink you shall never thirst again.”

At last

I have found The Eternal Stream.
